BIKESTYLE HANDICAP ROUND 3 AND 4 REPORT                 (27 July 2009)
by Steve Shimmin

Event 3 and 4 both saw large fields contest the points.Gary Hinds somehow finding the energy to win the sprint in Event 3 after hiding in the bunch and missing his turns on the front for a lap and half ! Seriously Hinds showed the youngsters that knowledge, craftiness and racing 'nowse' can make up for fitness alone. Well done Burgers.

Event 4 saw Garry Mazzone take what I think is his maiden career victory in a hotly contended bunch sprint. Congratulations due.

After taking into account points awarded for marshal duties its the unshakeable Peter Gage (169) who still leads just nudging Chris Nicholson (164) with Scott Morgan (153) coming up on the rails in 3rd and Graeme Hatcher (152) a point adrift in 4th.

The handicapping has been awful so far this year. Next race is scheduled for August 6th where the faster riders will be split into smaller groups and started a lot closer to the long markers which should create an exciting race and bunch finish.
