Quite a low
turn out in freezing cold very windy conditions.
The scratch
group didn’t make it up to the front due to optimistic handicapping!!
This left the sprint to be contested by the remainder of the field.
Thomas
Mazzone grabbed the win by half a bike length from new dad Scott
Morgan. Tom Hughes, Jack Wolstencroft and Elliot Moore made up the top
5. Series leader Gary Mazzone secured the overall prize contesting the
sprint finishing 6th on the night.
The night’s
top lady finisher Laura Wasley led the ladies series winner Ali Clague
across the line finishing strongly in 7th and 8th
respectively. Mary Mason and Alicia Corlett were close behind. The
ladies have ridden brilliantly all year as have all members of the
long markers group. They have learnt to work together and maintain a
consistent speed which has made it very difficult for the other groups
to catch. Well done all.
The final
table changed considerably after this event with consistent scoring
proving to be the secret of success.
Congratulations to all competitors in this year’s series. The standard
has risen dramatically over the last few years.
Presentation venue and date will be announced shortly.
All that
remains is to start training for next year.
Thanks to
all for entering and making it a really enjoyable series to organise.
If anyone has any ideas how we can improve the formula please give me
a call (no witty comments from the scratch group regarding the
handicapping please).
