‘Bikestyle/MVW 3 Up 25 Mile Time Trial’
There was a great turn out for today’s Island Games fundraising event. 73 riders contested the 25 mile team time trial in near perfect conditions. Unusually for this type of event, all teams managed to finish - with some fast times! The event was won by Robin Garry, Ed Perry and Tom Mazzone with a time of 51:27. Runners up were the team of Owen Dudley, Gary Johnston and Mark Harrison with a time of 54:55. And finishing the podium in 3rd place were the trio of young riders Jimmy Bostock, Adam Kelly and Tosh Teare in a time of 55:21 (this was an excellent time considering the 3 boys had to dismount and wait whilst the traffic snarl up was cleared!). Thanks to all who entered the Bikestyle raffle after the event, with all proceeds also put towards the 2017 Island Games. As usual, a massive thank you to all the organisers and helpers who make events like this possible. Results (EXCEL / PDF)

Message From IOM Youth Tour Organisers

Dear All

We are busy behind the scenes trying to get everything prepared for the Youth Tour which this year has been particularly challenging in terms of the logistics required to put the races on in a safe way for the riders.

We are, as ever going to need a lot of marshals to assist us.  We would therefore be extremely grateful if you could possibly spare some time to assist.

The stages required are as follows:

Saturday 30th April 2016

Peel (8am - 12:30)

28 required

Saturday 30th April 2016

Ellerslie (13:15 - 17:30)

16 required

Sunday 1st May 2016

Bride (8am - 12:30)

30 required

We are aware that there have been a lot of requests for help for the various events being held this year, these requests however really are essential to organisers being able to put on safe racing on the Isle of Man.  This is an opportunity for you to give something back to the sport without sacrificing your own racing!!

If you are able to help, please email us on iomyt@hotmail.co.uk

Many thanks

Erica & Emma

ISLAND TO HOST MAJOR NEW EVENT WE NEED VOLUNTEERS

The Isle of Man Cycling Association and IOM Govt DED were disappointed not to have been awarded the honour of staging the British National Cycling Road Race Championships in 2016 after partaking in a prolonged bid process.

Feedback from British Cycling indicated that the bid was very strong however it fell short on the fact that the Isle of Man lacked a current ‘track record’ in promoting Senior Elite Road Races. The last time the top echelon of British Cycle Sport appeared on Manx roads was in 2003 when Manx International Cycling Week was staged for the last time.

We are pleased to announce that continued discussions with British Cycling and IOMG DED led to a bid to host a round of the British Elite Road Series in 2016. If this event is successful it will be staged annually and will lead to another bid to host the British National Championships in 2018.

The event is scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday 10th April 2016.

This is a major event that is covered by Eurosport and will show the Island in a positive light.

Part of the British Elite Championship Series the event will bring the top echelon of British Cycle Sport back to Manx roads on Sunday 10th April 2016. It will be an annual event which will lead to the Island bidding to host the British National Road Championships in 2018.

We need 250 volunteers to act as Stewards and Marshals on the day…..can you help us please?

The duty hours will be from 12.30 pm to 6.00 pm at the latest. Lots of volunteers will be ‘stood down’ from approximately 4.00 pm onwards. The duty tasks will not be onerous or complicated, it will be mostly providing a ‘hi viz’ presence, marshalling barrier positions and helping people to cross the roads etc all with a big smile! The volunteers will be the ‘happy face’ of the event.

All volunteers will be entered into a raffle with some great prizes on offer and will receive some souvenir clothing.

If you can help us stage this exciting new event please let us know as soon as possible by contacting us at; steveshimmin@manx.net or via the event website contact page www.manxinternational.com
